KTM’S 250-CC Sport Bike will soon

AFTER THE SUCCESS OF THE 200 DUKE, BAJAJ and KTM are in absolute assault mode. Up next is the much anticipated 390 Duke naked streetfighter, which is expected to offer a stunning power-to-weight ratio along with great agility. And before you can settle down, you’ll be hit by the next radical machine from the Austrian bikemakers: a brand-new 250-cc sports bike.

Bajaj-KTM have officially confirmed an ‘RC8-inspired and Moto 3 racing bike-inspired, small displacement supersports bike to be launched in early 2014’. In other words, the company is developing a single-cylinder, 250-cc engine based on their Moto 3 racing bike and it is expected
to produce about 30 PS. This motor would be bolted on a scaled down version of the futuristic RC8 sports bike.

The sharp design of the smaller ‘RC’ should be well appreciated in our country and to get customer reaction Bajaj plan to display the RC8 1190 at some of their select KTM showrooms this month. Bajaj will manufacture the RC 250 cc at their Chakan plant and export the bike to international markets. Going by the company’s previous track-record, the price would be most competitive and might even undercut the likes of Kawasaki Ninja 250R, Hyosung GT250R and even the KTM 390 Duke! Better watch out for this race replica.
